Family Makan @ Pearl River
Whoot!!! Finally.. THose who dun noe.. here is it.I am a rider on the road now. Please look out for me. Riding is fun but tiring. Although the colour looks a little GAY, but i am glad for it as i am SUPER obvious to road users. Ta-dah~~!!!

My uncle helped me take this while i tried to see what i will look like when RIDE.. :)
Well now for my usual post -- Food!! Yum Yum Food... :P

Pearl River Palace (Suntec)
They are now having a Herbal promotion,so for those who loves herby stuf, please go have a try! it is definatley worth your cash, if u order the amounts in small quantity and have a Oki(big) stomach, i am sure u will be able to try all the foods. :)
First up: we have so starters..

Starters: Century Egg Congee with Shredded Pork and Jellyfish with Spicy Sauce
Porridge ain't really my thing but the combination of the crispy stuff with the porridge for replacement of youtiao was a great idea. It is not so oily but i think the poriddge could be better.
Next:
Left: Roasted Crispy Pork, with white: mustard sauce, brown: dang gui sauce. The black stuff to the extrem right is "mian Jin" some vegetarian floury food.
Next we have from left: Crispy friedPrawn Dumpling with Salad sauce, Deep-fried Beancurd Skin Roll with Prawns and lastly the Jellyfish with spicy sauce.
On this table, the main food item will definately be the Poached Live Prawns. It is only limited to 100g per person, but taste really awesome. Succulent and fresh taste, so much so that it wriggles in your mouth. The sauce for the prawn really goes well with the prawns. It brings out the sweetness of the prawns really well.

Assorted Desserts : From left to right, Coconut with Jackfruit, colourful jelly, fruity fruit ( Watermelon, dragonfruit, raspberry), and many kinds of tart: Peach, raspberry, blackcurrent, tapioca, carrot cake (ang mo style), and some coconut cake thingy. Lastly, the black stuff is thier signature Gui Ling Gao.

Fluffy Barbecued Pork Pastry
I think this was great. As the name said: Fluffy. not too hard and the coating was just nice, not thick. the seaseme seed improved the aroma of the dim sum. the insides are even better. The char siew was not too sweet or too "porky", the meat was quite bite sized and the combination was just purrfect.. *Slurp..

Just nice i was craving for some "Shao Rou" and they have it on the menu. I immediately ordered it and anxiously waited for it. Upon closely looking upon the crispy pork, i saw the immense juice overflowing me, calling out to me "Eat me.. Eat me... " the mustard sauce was great, american horse raddish combining with a chinese dish was really fine - a yin yang combi out of this world. What further surprised me was the Dang Gui sauce (I think) which was incorperated for this time's theme of Herbal Infusion. I find it not to my liking as it was "too normal". the appetizer mian jin was normal. Nothing much to say - like peanuts. Bleh~
Next we have from left: Crispy friedPrawn Dumpling with Salad sauce, Deep-fried Beancurd Skin Roll with Prawns and lastly the Jellyfish with spicy sauce.
All of the above looks like normal dim sum that you have at any restaruant but i will only highlight the Crispy Prawn Dumpling. i find that it one of the better must eat, rather than the beancurd roll (Suace was not my taste) and jelly fish was interesting with the wolfberry but not spicy at all. Sad...

Center Stage in clockwise direction from the brown stuf: Steamed Chicken Feet with Black pepper sauce, Steamed Babercued Pork Bun in Oyster Sauce, Crispy Fried Dumpling (mentioned above), and lastly Steamed Siew Mai with Fish Roe.
I really liked the Char Siew Pao as their Char Siew was sliced and not cubed like the NORMAL dim sums. chicken feet was to spicy for me andsiew mai was siew mai lor.
The Expensive Dish: Braised Shark's Fin with Crab Roe and the Wasabi Prawn.
The are the most worth the price dishes for the day. Need i say anymore for the Shark's fin. Though Sharks are getting endangered from our chinese way of eating, i always get surprises from this wonderful dish. Next is the Wassabi prawn. i thought that the combination was a little too wrong. Deep-frying the prawn with batter and dipping it into wasabi felt life the prawn was killed off it taste. Proabably it was due to the fresh live prawn i had early. the contrast was too great.
Now for the main course items:
Top down: Diced Beef in Black Pepper Sauce, Steamed Turnip Cake with Dried Scallops, Braised Ee-Fu Noodle with Crab Meat and Stir-fried Shredded Lotus Root, Anchovies, Chives and Capsicum.
From top to bottom: Deep fried Chicken with Shrimp Paste with Prawn Crackers, Stewed Duck with four Herbs, Mantou - Deep fried / Steamed and Sauteed Sliced Lamb with Leeks.
Of all the 8 above mentioned items, i liked the Duck and the mantou the best. The duck was good as it doesn't really get stuck in the gaps of my teeth and it was able to take in bite by bite which shows the amazing control of fire by the chef. Mantou brings back some CHINA memories, having it as the dessert also in restaruants although the steamed kinds really sux when compared to China. LOL.
As for the rest, it just felt normal, like u can get it anywhere at "Zhu Chao" places.
Now a solo shot of Minky Chu, my younger bro, with a backdrop of my mummy and daddy behind. And the small dessert tables.
The view outside was really great, afterall it was of the great places to watch the F1 Race the last time. And now just look at the Array of Lambos.. i think NYC will be elated to see this more than the food.. haha.. It was interesting though, i just went "Wah...... " (While pointing outside) and everybody in the restaruant including the waiters and waitress all look outside.. Sinagpore people are tjust too Kaypo.. LMAO..
And our finale Dish, You have no tasted Canto food until u have eaten fish. Cantonese fish should be one of the best.
Steamed Seabass with Black Bean Sauce.
Although it is a normal dish, it really was great effort. The master chef(from Hongkong) came out and told us the mystries of how to remove the muddy taste from this fish. and suddenly, everybody was speaking in canto, including my parents. So weird. luckily i understand but dun noe how to speak.
Well that was it. I think this is the 1st time in a very long long time that i updated it so fast - likely immediately upon reaching home. Skipped classes just for FOOD. Defiantely worth it. Should be hitting the books soon. zzz
